The Catholic Grandparents Association will host their first annual retreat conference on 26 and 27 April 2017 at the Dominican Retreat Centre, Tallaght Village, Dublin.

The theme of the retreat conference will be ‘Helping our Children and Grandchildren to know, love and serve God in these highly secularised times’. The retreat offers a unique opportunity to meet, share and pray with other like-minded people through a series of lively discussions and workshops.

Discussions over the two days will be hosted by Father Enda Brady. Guest speakers will include Father Benny McHale of the Croi Nua Spirituality Centre, Galway, on the topic of ‘Grandparents in these secular times’; Kate Liffey, National Director for Catechetics, who will speak on ‘Working to share the joy of the Gospel with children and grandchildren’; and Catherine Wiley, founder of the Catholic Grandparents’ Association, on the subject ‘Will our grandchildren be Catholics?’

All are welcome to attend the retreat, though space is limited and booking in advance is essential.

The Catholic Grandparents Association was founded by Catherine Wiley and launched as part of the 2009 National Grandparents’ Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine. The CGA was formally blessed by Pope Benedict XVI in August 2010. The blessing, received by Catherine Wiley, said ‘Our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI invokes God’s Blessings of Joy and Peace upon you and all of the Association.  Make them [grandparents] teachers of wisdom and courage, that they may pass on to future generations the fruits of their mature human and spiritual experience.’ Starting with its origins in Ireland, the CGA has now spread to several countries around the world.
