The Drumalis Retreat and Conference Centre in Larne, Co Antrim, have begun recruitment for their Diploma in Pastoral Theology. The two-year part-time course, which is validated by Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth, will begin in September 2017.

The Diploma in Pastoral Theology aims to equip people for skilled and supervised, active lay ministry within church and parish communities. The course is open to men and women from all walks of life who are, or aim to be, involved in their parish communities. During the course, participants will study and reflect on Christian life and ministry, combine pastoral theology and experience in pastoral placements, and engage in ongoing formation of social, organisational, communication and leadership skills.

Drumalis is a retreat centre owned and managed by the Sisters of the Cross and Passion, a congregation of Religious Sisters founded in Manchester in 1852 by Elizabeth Prout who became known as Mother Mary Joseph. The ministry of the house is one of reconciliation and nurturing. The resident Sisters offer an organised programme of retreats and workshops.

The Diploma in Pastoral Theology is part of a long tradition of Adult Faith Development in Drumalis, including Pathways, Certificate in Christian Thought, Certificate in Lectio Divina Facilitation, Certificate in Small Group Facilitation, and a Diploma in the Ministry of Spiritual Direction.

The first two-year cycle of the Diploma in Pastoral Theology, which welcomed 20 new students, is now coming to a close and feedback has been very positive.
