Killaloe launches new ‘Be Proud of Your Parish’ project

The Diocese of Killaloe has introduced a new project to celebrate the natural beauty that can be found in the area. Introduced by the Justice, Peace and Care of Creation Committee, the project will produce a DVD by the end of 2016 aiming to make parishioners in the diocese proud of their parishes.

The project was inspired by the words of Pope Francis in his message for the World Day of Peace where he said that, “The human family has received from the Creator a common gift: nature.” The ‘Be Proud of Your Parish’ project aims to rejoice in that gift and to share the treasure with all in the diocese.

Father Gerard Fitzgerald, a member of the Justice, Peace and Care of Creation Committee, said of the project, “We wish to release a DVD which will capture through photos, music, reflection, prayer and poetry the singular radiance of the diocese of Killaloe. This is a project which hopes to celebrate beauty but also which hopes to instil within each one of us a sense of pride in your own parish. Therefore, our invitation to you is simple. Our invitation to you is to ‘Be Proud of Your Parish’.

Parishioners of all ages are invited to get involved, and are asked to get out and photograph local landmarks and areas of natural beauty in their parishes. These photographs would be included on the DVD which will be available ahead of Christmas. All pictures can be sent to Father Gerard Fitzgerald at [email protected].
