The 2025 theme of the Irish Church Music Association’s summer school is ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, and it will take place in Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth, from 1 to 3 July. This year’s ICMA theme, which has been inspired by the journey of faith and renewal that the faithful are undertaking during this universal Jubilee Year of Hope, reflects our shared mission as pilgrims of hope, bringing together musicians, singers, and liturgical leaders to explore the transformative power of music in our Church communities.
This annual summer school offers a series of workshops focused on Church music. Whether participants are familiar with the summer school experience, or might be new to the world of liturgical music, these very interesting days in Maynooth always provide an uplifting opportunity to sing, pray, and join together in joyful praise of God. Those attending will learn new repertoire, gain deeper liturgical knowledge, and develop valuable skills in sight reading, improvisation, composition, song selection, and choir leadership – all taught by some of the finest Irish Church musicians and composers.
More than just a place of learning, the Church music summer school is a community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for music and ministry. Highlights will include the Share Your Gifts concert, where participants are invited to showcase their talents, and a lively quiz evening filled with fun and fellowship. Feedback to date from previous years is that friendships forged at the summer school often last a lifetime.
As a pilgrim of hope, you are invited to come together to be inspired, to deepen our connection with liturgical music, and to develop our musical talents in service to God and His Church. Join the Irish Church Music Association in early July for a truly uplifting experience that will renew your spirit and strengthen your ministry! See www.icmamusic.ie for more details.
