Dublin Diocese to host World Day of the Sick Conference

The 2017 World Day of the Sick 2017 conference will be hosted by the Dublin Diocesan World Day of the Sick Committee on Saturday 11 February on the theme Christ the Healer – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. World Day of the Sick is celebrated each year on 11 February – the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.

The conference will be held in The Marine Hotel, Sutton, Co Dublin from 9.30am until 1.00pm.Speakers at the Dublin conference will include Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, Sr Margherita Rock, Canon Damian O’Reilly, Sr Pat O’Donovan and Nuala O’Loan.

On Sunday 12 February Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will celebrate a Mass of Healing with Anointing of the Sick in Saint Gabriel’s Parish Church, Dollymount, Dublin 3. All are welcome to attend this Mass. Those who are sick and their carers are especially welcome to this Mass.

To coincide with the 25th Silver Jubilee Celebration of the World Day of the Sick the Dublin Diocesan World Day of the Sick Committee has published a renewed version of their very popular prayer book – ‘I Am With You’ (Psalm 90).

The book offers a selection of prayers and reflections for those experiencing suffering and illness, and for those caring for those who are facing sickness. The books is popular in parishes, in hospitals, at home and is used by the diocese for pastoral visitation of the sick and carers and for First Friday calls.
