Emmanuel 2016 begins today in Dublin Diocese

Emmanuel 2016 begins today in Dublin Diocese and will run until Thursday 3 March in the Helix DCU.

Emmanuel is a project of the Dublin Diocesan Liturgical Resource Centre and promotes the use of Sacred Music in Secondary schools. Emmanuel sees over two thousand secondary school students from all over Dublin coming together in song.

One of the advantages of this programme is that it offers students and teachers a liturgical music repertoire for school Masses including Graduations and the feedback is that those preparing liturgies are using the material they have come to know and love. During the year the students practice in their own schools. On the day of their performance in The Helix they come together to practice and attend workshops on a range of spiritual topics. This project is managed by Grainne Clinton of the Liturgy Resource Centre with the generous co-operation of other members of staff on the Clonliffe campus. Ian Callanan is the music director and conducts the orchestra and chorus on each night.
