Knock Shrine, Ireland’s National Marian Shrine, has released details for the 2017 national novena in honour of Our Lady of Knock.

The annual novena will take place from 14 to 22 August, including celebrations for the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on 15 August and the feast of Our Lady of Knock on 21 August. During the novena, Mass will be celebrated twice daily at 3.00pm and 8.30pm, with Mass on Sunday and holidays at 2.30pm.

The national novena will be held during this year’s Knock pilgrimage season which takes place between April and October and will see various groups and dioceses from across Ireland visit the Marian Shrine each weekend.

Some of the highlights of the Knock pilgrimage season include the Cumann na Sagart pilgrimage on Sunday 30 April, and the Polish Community pilgrimage on Saturday June 10 and Family Prayer Day on Saturday 15 July. The annual Grandparents’ pilgrimage day, a special day for grandparents and families, will take place on Sunday 10 September.

Knock Shrine will also host several mini-vigils throughout the year, on the first Friday of each month from May to November. The 45th Annual Eucharistic All-Night Vigil will take place on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 December, beginning with confessions on Thursday from 10.00pm to 12 midnight with Mass at 4.00am on Friday 8 December.
