Tickets for the Papal Mass in Phoenix Park as part of the World Meeting of Families are now available on the WMOF website www.worldmeeting2018.ie. Pope Francis will visits the 9th World Meeting of Families which will take place in Dublin from 21–26 August.

The booking portal went live this morning for tickets to the Closing Mass of WMOF2018 in the Phoenix Park and the Papal visit to Knock Shrine, both of which will take place on Sunday 26 August. Ticket numbers for the Phoenix Park are limited to 500,000 and tickets to Knock Shrine limited to 45,000. Due to distance and the timing of the two events on Sunday 26 August, it will not be possible for pilgrims to attend both.

Demand for tickets has already proven very high, with all tickets for Knock Shrine now booked out.

The Closing Mass on 26 August will take place at 3:00pm at the Papal Cross, right at the heart of the Park. A colour-coding ticket system will be in place given the scale of the event, and each ticket will give access both in and out of the Park via a single route and gate. Due to the size and scale of this event, tickets for Phoenix Park will be issued to pilgrims by email as a ‘print at home’ ticket. These will be sent by 31 July.

Earlier that morning, Pope Francis will visit Knock Shrine to pray for families and WMOF2018. He will arrive at Knock Shrine at 9.45am where he will visit the Apparition Chapel and then give the Angelus address on the square in front of the Shrine. He will depart the Shrine at 10.45am. Tickets for the Knock Shrine event will be printed and posted by 10 August to all those who have successfully booked via the website.

The story of Knock began on the 21 August 1879 when Our Lady, Saint Joseph and Saint John the Evangelist appeared at the south gable of Knock Parish Church. This miraculous apparition was witnessed by fifteen people, young and old. Knock is an internationally recognised Marian Shrine and was visited by Saint Pope John Paul II as part of his 1979 papal pilgrimage to Ireland. For more information on pilgrimages to Knock and other events at Knock Shrine please visit www.knockshrine.ie.
