Pilgrimage of Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help

by | 4 Apr, 2016 | News

A pilgrimage of the Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help is being organised by the Redemptorists and will see the Icon visit all 26 Roman Catholic Cathedrals in Ireland to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help. On 23 March 2016, Pope Francis blessed the Pilgrim Icon of our Mother of Perpetual Help in Rome prior to its departure for Dublin with the Irish Redemptorists.

As part of the pilgrimage, Archbishop Charles J Brown, Apostolic Nuncio, will lead a procession, today, 4 April. The procession will begin at 6.00pm from Mount Saint Alphonsus Church to Saint John’s Cathedral in Limerick. Archbishop Brown will then celebrate Mass at 8.30pm, followed by a healing service for the people of Limerick and an all-night vigil beginning at midnight.

Similar ceremonies will be held all around the country from today until Sunday 15 May. Full details can be found on: www.followtheicon.ie.
