Pilgrims to picnic during special celebration of the Catechism in Knock

On the feast of much loved Saints Peter and Paul, a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Knock will take place tomorrow, Saturday 29 June 2019. The centrepiece of the pilgrimage, entitled Learning and Living our Catholic Faith, will be the celebration of Mass by Archbishop Michael Neary of Tuam, the preacher for which will be Archbishop Eamon Martin of Armagh. His Excellency Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo, Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland, will also address the congregation.

The event is organised by the Catechism of the Catholic Church Adult Studies, Steering Committee. Cobh Cathedral Choirs Adult & Children will perform on the day under the direction of Dominic Finn. Families are also invited to picnic on the day of the pilgrimage.

Workshops will take place on the Catechism of the Catholic Church including an introduction
to YouCat and YouCat for Kids. The workshops will be held on Saint John’s Rest and Care Centre at 11am, 11:45am and 12:30pm. Young People are also invited to prepare a project on the Story of Knock. There will be prizes of €100, €50, and €25 for the best projects. Projects should be handed into Saint John’s Rest and Care Centre before 1pm on the day.

The schedule of the day will be as follows:

  • 11am, 11:45am or 12:30pm – Workshops
  • 2.00pm – Rosary
  • 2.15pm – Stations of the Cross
  • 2.30pm – Anointing of the Sick
  • 3.00pm – Celebration of Holy Mass
