A special youth pilgrimage from the Diocese of Kerry to the Taizé monastic community in France will depart this Sunday 25 June, returning next week on Sunday 2 July. More than twenty young pilgrims from the diocese, aged 18–35, will make the journey, joined by youth leaders and a further eight young pilgrims from the Dublin and Meath dioceses.

The Taizé community in France has become one of the world’s most important sites of Christian pilgrimage, with a special welcome for young people. Over 100,000 young people from around the world make pilgrimages to Taizé each year. On their pilgrimage, the young people will take part in fun faith-based workshops, bible study and prayer, and will also have the opportunity to join in singing some of the world famous Taizé chants.

The Taizé Community is an ecumenical monastic order in Taizé, Saône-et-Loire, France. It is composed of more than one hundred brothers, from Catholic and Protestant traditions, who originate from about thirty countries across the world. It was founded in 1940 by Brother Roger Schütz. Through the community’s ecumenical outlook, they are encouraged to live in the spirit of kindness, simplicity and reconciliation.
