Bishop Kelly is himself a former Curate of Kinvara Parish and Saint Colman’s is the oldest church still in use for worship in the Diocese of Galway, Kilmacduagh and Kilfenora.
On Saturday 21 September there will be an Evening of Music, History and Song in Kinvara Community Centre at 8.00pm, featuring songs performed by Maeve Cairney (Soprano), Fiona Corless (Mezzosoprano) and accompanied by Martina King on piano. There will also be music from Kinvara School of Traditional Music and from Seamount College, Kinvara. The evening will also feature a presentation on the history of Saint Colman’s Church by Jeff and Áine O’Connell, based on Jeff’s extensive research in the papers of Bishop Nicholas Archdeacon, the Bishop of Kilmacduagh whose determination bore fruit in the building of the church.
