On 28 November Ireland’s new ambassador to the Holy See, Her Excellency Frances Collins, presented her credential letters to Pope Francis in the Vatican.
Ambassador Collins was formally vice-director of the Disarmament and Non-Proliferation section of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin. Previously she had worked as vice-Head of Mission at the European Union delegation to South Sudan, as Second Secretary at Ireland’s embassy in Uganda, and as a desk officer for the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The new ambassador holds a bachelor’s degree in History, Politics and Social Studies, and an MA in European Integration, both from the University of Limerick.
