In the build-up to Season of Creation 2023, An Tairseach are hosting a number of initiatives such as their ‘Celebrating Creation’ course, and a Season of Creation workshop.
Highlighting the upcoming courses, Sister Colette Kane OP of An Tairseach said, “Recent insights from IPCC, COP 27, the Biodiversity Conference, as well as Pope Francis’ film, The Letter, continue to communicate the urgency of building awareness of Earth’s crisis, supporting ecological conversion, and engaging our catholic community in effective and sustainable action. In light of this, we hope you might be willing to attend a course we are hosting called ‘Celebrating Creation’, or participate in a day’s workshop called ‘Season of Creation’:
‘Celebrating Creation’ course from 31 July – 5 August 2023: Registration – An Tairseach Wicklow
‘Season of Creation’ workshop on 4 August 2023: Registration – An Tairseach Wicklow
Sister Kane continued, “The purpose of the events is to provide people with resources to animate and enhance liturgies during the Season of Creation (1 September World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation – 4 October, Feast of Saint Francis). This year we will unite around the theme, “Let Justice and Peace Flow”.
“In Archbishop Farrell’s pastoral letter he hoped for “ongoing diocesan conversation about how all can contribute to the care of our common home, and recognize the many dimensions attached to this challenge.” In Celebrating Creation we hope to contribute to care of our common home through liturgical celebration, including input on good ritual, providing musical resources and sacred dance/movement. We have also reached out to Trocaire and Laudato Si (Ireland) to engage key catholic constituencies.”
In conclusion, Sister Kane said, “If you cannot attend yourself, perhaps you might know someone who can. We will be delighted to meet you here in our beautiful organic farm and Ecology Centre in the garden of Ireland Co Wicklow, such an apt venue to celebrate Creation!”
