Synodality focus of AMRI conference

The Association of Leaders of Missionaries and Religious of Ireland (AMRI) – whose mission is to provide leadership and support to its members, to foster collaboration, and to promote spirituality, social justice and sustainable living on a shared journey of faith – held its 2024 AGM and annual conference on the theme of ‘Seeds of Hope in a Changing World’ in Tullamore, Co Offaly, over 25 and 26 September.

Bishop Michael Router, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Armagh, (pictured above with Gerard Gallagher, Secretary General of AMRI, Father Tim Lehane SVD, and Sister Anne Codd PBVM), was welcomed to the conference by the over 200 delegates who were drawn from various religious congregational leadership teams across the island of Ireland.  Bishop Router brought greetings to the delegates on behalf of the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference.

As Synodality is a key focus of AMRI’s strategic plan, the final day focused exclusively on the topic of Synodality.  In this regard, Bishop Router noted that the Church in Ireland continues to embrace and reflect upon the key question put to the faithful of the Universal Church by the Holy Father Pope Francis, namely: ‘What is the Spirit saying to the Church today?’
