All welcome to Light the Fire pilgrimage in Ballintuber Abbey

22 Jul, 2024 | Bishops, Church, News

The Archdiocese of Tuam welcomes everyone to the second ‘Light the Fire‘ pilgrimage with Archbishop Francis Duffy of Tuam, Deacon John Taaffe, singer Dana and others from across the island of Ireland that will be held at Ballintubber Abbey, Co Mayo, Archdiocese of Tuam, on Sunday 4 August, from noon until 4.00pm.

Light the Fire began as a song and has become a movement to re-kindle the embers of the fire that Saint Patrick lit on the Hill of Slane in 433AD.  That fire of Faith, Hope and Love converted Ireland to Christianity and this in turn help spread the faith to Europe and beyond.

As part of the Light the Fire rosary and healing service, Archbishop Duffy will celebrate Mass at Ballintubber Abbey, and Deacon Taaffe will be in attendance.

During the gathering Ireland’s former Eurovision Song Contest winner Dana Rosemary Scanlon will sing her new song for Saint Patrick which recalls how our patron saint lit the fire of faith.

The schedule of events for the day will comprise:
12.00pm – 1.00pm –  Gathering
1.15pm – Rosary
2.00pm – Holy Mass
3.00pm – Eucharist Healing Service
4.00pm – Depart for home
