Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh, on 12 September, with brimming with energy as young people from across the Archdiocese of Armagh gathered for the Pope John Paul II and Muiredach Cross Award Ceremony.

This ceremony celebrated the end of a two-year journey where recipients deepened their faith and gave back to their communities through acts of service.  Supported by their families, schools, and parishes, participants were recognised for their dedication to others and to making a positive difference.

Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, Archbishop Eamon Martin, welcomed and led the ceremony along with Auxiliary Bishop Michael Router.  Archbishop Eamon said, “The evening’s theme, ‘Love Changes Everything’, highlights that God is Love, the power of love inspired by Christ’s love for us in overcoming challenges, especially those faced by young people today.  This ceremony celebrates, not only the achievements of the 186 recipients of the awards in the archdiocese, but also the strength and resilience that you have shown on your journey over the past two years.  I wish to salute all of the participants and acknowledge your dedication.  I strongly encourage everyone to continue to be a light amongst your peers and in your communities.  The Church and society needs your gifts.”
