Archbishop Eamon Martin expresses support for First Holy Communicants

18 May, 2020 | News

Archbishop Eamon Martin has expressed his support for First Holy Communicants who have had to see their ceremonies postponed as a result of Covid-19 restrictions.

In a video message to all First Communicants, Archbishop Martin said, “May is the month when you should have received first communion. You are disappointed, and so are we.”

Mass was said for First Holy Communicants in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, where almost the entire Altar was covered in pictures sent by young school pupils awaiting their First Communion ceremonies.

Archbishop Martin encouraged those awaiting First Holy Communion to continue to prepare over the summer, and hopefully their ceremonies will take place in the Autumn when it is safe to do so.

First Communion preparation resources can be found at armaghprays.com.

Archbishop Eamon Martin is Primate of All Ireland, Archbishop of Armagh and Apostolic Administrator of Dromore.
