Archbishops to lead Good Friday Walk of Witness in Dublin

by | 6 Apr, 2017 | News

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin will join his Church of Ireland counterpart, Archbishop Michael Jackson, for this year’s Walk of Witness through the streets of Dublin on Good Friday.

Together Archbishop Jackson and Archbishop Martin will carry a cross from Christ Church Cathedral to Saint Mary’s Pro-Cathedral in an ecumenical act of visible witness on one of the holiest days in the Christian calendar.

The Walk of Witness will begin from Christ Church Cathedral with a short prayer service at 7.15pm. The Archbishops will jointly carry a Taizé Cross as they lead the procession to Saint Mary’s Pro-Cathedral on Marlborough Street where they will join an hour long Taizé prayer service around the cross.

People of all traditions are invited to join Archbishops Martin and Jackson as they journey across the city presenting a public sign of the Churches’ work and witness together to the wider community.

All are welcome to this year’s ecumenical Walk of Witness, now in its sixth year.
