26 May, 2016 | News

The Corpus Christi Procession will return to Waterford City this Sunday, 29 May, after an absence of many years.

Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan, Bishop of Waterford and Lismore, will carry the Blessed Sacrament in the procession, and is encouraging all to participate. Speaking about the procession, Bishop Cullinan said “As we walk through the streets accompanying the Lord, we will pray for all the people of the City, County, Diocese and beyond, asking God’s blessing on all – on families, the sick, those in any need, the lonely, the lost. We pray that God’s peace, protection and wisdom will help us all.”

The Corpus Christi procession will begin at 3.00pm at the Bull Post in Ballybricken and will finish with a Benediction on John Roberts Square. In the case of rain, the Benediction will take place in the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity. Music will be provided by the Waterford Brass Band, joined by the city choirs, while the Civil Defence will steward the procession.
