Bishop Denis Nulty, Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin  has invited the faithful to make a pilgrimage to a Holy Door in the diocese during the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

He said, “These Summer months offer an excellent opportunity in the Year of Mercy for individuals or groups to make a pilgrimage to one of the designated Holy Doors in the diocese. Pilgrims might like to follow the routes taken on the day each door was opened or devise a route of their own.”

The Holy Doors and the routes to them are as follows:

  • Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow, beginning by the icon of Saint Fiacc, Saint Clare’s church, Graiguecullen.
  • Church of Saint Brigid, Kildare Town, beginning at Saint Brigid’s Well, Kildare.
  • Church of Saint Fintan, Mountrath, beginning at Saint Fintan’s, Clonenagh.

A prayer leaflet for use on the pilgrimage can be downloaded here

Bishop Denis said he is looking for the to the opening of the Holy Door in Duiske Abbey, Graiguenamanagh on 11 September.
