Bishop Fintan Monahan, Bishop of Killaloe, has shared his first Christmas message as Bishop of Killaloe. Bishop Fintan is reflecting on the theme ‘Jesus is the Reason for the Season’.
In his message Bishop Fintan reflects on the message of Christmas and how challenging it is for us to live it properly as Christians.
Bishop Fintan also shares a prayer for all on the roads this Christmas, that it will be a time of heightened awareness of how important it is to take care on our road networks.
Bishop Fintan also reflects on the how important it is for us to become Christmas and to reach out to those around us, especially those who are lonely, those with an empty space at the Christmas table, those who are homeless, and those who are newly arrived to our country.
Bishop Fintan concludes his message by sharing that well known quote about Christmas and the Nativity scene by Meister Eckhart who said, “We are celebrating the feast of the Eternal Birth which God the Father has borne and never ceases to bear in all eternity… But if it takes not place in me, what avails it? Everything lies in this, that it should take place in me.”
