Church in Maynooth looking to employ leaders in youth ministry and climate justice

Two exciting posts are currently being advertised that will offer fulfilling career opportunities to the right people wishing to work for the mission of the Church.

The parish of Maynooth, Saint Mary’s and Lady Chapel, is looking for a Parish Youth Leader to manage its youth ministry and to work with young people.

The role will involve the resourcing, delivery, and support of a youth ministry programme in the parish including for the schools of the parish, parish groups as well as for diocesan bodies, with a focus on building capacity in the local context.  The successful candidate will engage with the development of youth and pastoral programmes as well as Sacramental preparation coordination.  The role will actively promote and encourage the involvement of young people in the life of the local parish community.  Application forms are available from Martina at the Parish Office [email protected], which can also be telephoned on 01- 6293018.  The closing date is 20 October at 1.00pm.

Separately, Trócaire, the overseas development agency of the Irish Bishops’ Conference, is looking for a Maynooth-based Laudato Si’ Project Officer.  According to a Trócaire spokesperson, “the ideal candidate for this important post will be energised by the thought of working in an organisation that supports people and communities to tackle the root causes of poverty and injustice; has a passion to work in a global organisation with an inclusive and collaborative culture; and, wants to promote climate justice and care for the environment.”

As part of its outreach programme in Ireland, Trócaire’s work with parishes across the island of Ireland seeks to raise awareness about global justice issues.  The Laudato Si’ Project Officer will work to deliver the ‘Laudato Sí Project’, which is managed by Trócaire in collaboration with the Laudato Sí’ Movement.  The post is part of the Trócaire Ireland Division Outreach Team, which focuses on public engagement with clergy and the lay faithful across Ireland on Laudato Sí’, and also involves close collaboration with key external stakeholders.  Closing date for applications is 5 October, and for the full job description click here
