The Clogher Diocesan Youth Ministry team, Clogher don Óige, have invited young pilgrims of the diocese to a new summer ‘FaithFest’ event, which will take place at Lough Derg, Co Donegal, from Tuesday 15 August to Thursday 17 August. The three-day Faithfest welcomes 14-17 year olds for live music, workshops, inspiring speakers and more.
Clogher don Óige have previously led youth pilgrimages to Lourdes, Taizé and World Youth Day. Due to high demand, they have launched the new FaithFest event, especially for those who could not join on other pilgrimages.
Speaking on the new event, Youth Ministry Coordinator, Helena Connolly said “This year we had phenomenal demand for our Taizé pilgrimage which is a pilgrimage for 14-16 year olds to France to live with the Taizé community for one week in August. As Taizé is a pilgrimage of prayer and friendship, we thought ‘Why not offer this at home?’ We are so blessed to have Lough Derg in our Diocese of Clogher so we decided to bring young people to the island to experience all it has to offer. It’s the most special place and our youth festival will be very prayerful, respectful and a really unique faith experience for all the young people involved.”
The annual three-day pilgrimage to Lough Derg for the general public will not be taking place at the same time. Young people at FaithFest will not be fasting from food or sleep during their time at the summer festival.
