  • Father Willie Purcell: “Taking the risk for Christ and committing to serve Him as a diocesan priest is eternally rewarding.”

On Friday, 15 November, Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth, will open its doors to the ‘Come and See’ weekend for men who are discerning a vocation to diocesan priesthood.

This annual weekend provides an opportunity to learn more about the seminary formation programme and join with the seminarians and formation team in the prayer life of the seminary.  It will also allow participants to share with others who are at the early stages of exploring whether they have a vocation to diocesan priesthood.

Commenting on the upcoming weekend, Father Willie Purcell, the director of the National Office for Diocesan Vocations, said, “This weekend provides an invaluable opportunity for men who are discerning a vocation to take time with this question in a nurturing and informative environment. Taking the risk for Christ and committing to serve Him as a priest is eternally rewarding.”

The weekend will commence on Friday, 15 November, at 6pm, and will conclude on
Sunday, 17 November, at noon. Accommodation and meals will be provided in the seminary.

For further information and registration, please contact your local Diocesan Vocations Director.  Please note that this weekend is only open to those who are currently known to their Diocesan Vocations Director and are actively discerning a vocation to the priesthood.
