A Digital Detox Day will be held at Knock Shrine on Saturday 3 December as part of the ongoing Faith Renewal series of events. The event will take place from 10am–4pm in the Prayer Guidance Centre, Knock Shrine. The cost is €30 which will include lunch at the Knock House Hotel.
The Faith Renewal series at Knock Shrine encompasses a range of events which have been developed to give participants the opportunity to enliven, engage on a range of topics and provide solace from busy life. The Digital Detox Day will focus on encouraging people to take time away from technology which is now pervading every aspect of our lives. The day is expected to attract a large amount of interest.
Speaking ahead of the Autumn/Winter Faith Renewal Programme, Father Richard Gibbons, Parish Priest of Knock, said, “We recognise that people are busy and often overwhelmed with the demands of everyday life. Faith renewal events offer time away for reflection, to re-charge and restore ourselves on a spiritual level. We have developed new elements such as the ‘Digital Detox’ workshop as there is a clear need to people to put the phones away and simply disconnect for a while in a peaceful atmosphere. In addition to the more joyous events such as ‘The Story of Love’ concert, there are practical elements which provide an opportunity to deepen ones faith. It is that duality of offering practical and spiritual elements that we strive for.”
