Episcopal Council for Immigrants to host seminar on ‘Journeying Together with Immigrants’

On Friday 9 June, from 11am to 1.30pm, the Council for Immigrants of the Irish Bishops’ Conference will host a seminar in the Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth, Co Kildare, entitled ‘Journeying Together with Immigrants’.

This seminar is primarily for Diocesan Liaison Personnel for Immigrants and Immigrant Chaplaincies in Ireland as well as others who have an interest in this area.

The keynote speakers for this seminar will be Eugene Quinn and David Moriarty of the Jesuit Refugee Service, who will speak on the theme “Ireland’s Accommodation Crisis: a challenge to Solidarity and Hospitality”

The keynote address will be followed three panel discussions:

  • Sister Alacuoqe Gleeson RSM, Ballinasloe – welcoming refugees into the local community: practical responses;
  • Sister Lil Meagher HFB, Spirasi – working with victims of torture and with people in Direct Provision;
  • Father Willie Purcell, Diocese of Ossory / Orientation Course Team – the pastoral response to migrant communities in our dioceses and parishes.

During the seminar there will also be opportunities for prayer, discussion and engagement.
