This year’s prestigious ‘Spirit of Catholic Education Award’ ceremony will take place on 24 January in Saint Mary’s University College, Belfast, to mark Catholic Schools’ Week 2024. The awards are presented annually in conjunction with Catholic Schools’ Week and celebrate outstanding contributions to Catholic education.
Award-winning schools from nursery, primary and post-primary sectors from across the Diocese of Down and Connor will be presented with the ‘Spirit of Catholic Education Award’ in recognition of their outstanding work and commitment in responding to Pope Francis’ Beatitude: ‘Blessed are those who protect and care for our common home’ – as well as for delivering the ethos and values of Catholic education.
Across the island of Ireland, each year, Catholic Schools’ Week provides a timely focus on the role and significance of the school family as experienced within the lives of children and young people today. It also offers the whole school community an opportunity to affirm and pay tribute to the ongoing work of teachers as they seek to form young people in their intellectual, moral, spiritual and social development.
The following are the recipient schools Spirit of Catholic Education Awards 2024, and they are representative of, and showcase, how teachers across the diocese embed an ongoing commitment to living out the ‘Spirit of Catholic Education’:
