Knock Shrine have released details of their new series of Lenten events taking place throughout March and into April guiding people to Live Lent and grow in faith. The list of events at the National Marian Shrine includes the ‘Getting the most out of Holy Week’ Easter workshop, and the Quiet Days for Busy People retreat series.

The Lenten series of events will begin this Saturday 10 March with the Easter preparation workshop ‘Getting the most out of Holy Week’. Aimed at parish pastoral councils, the workshop will explore the whole of Holy Week from Palm Sunday to Holy Saturday Morning as a time of personal reflection, but also as the busiest week in parish life.

The workshop will be led by Colette Furlong, catechist to the Sligo parishes cluster and specialist in Theology and Liturgy, and will offer advice and resources for Altar Societies, Ministers of the Word and Eucharist and for all who wish to enter into the week more deeply.

The Prayer Guidance Centre will also host guided reflection and prayer at 4pm each Thursday throughout the Lenten season.

Knock Shrine will also continue its series of ‘Quiet Days for Busy People’ day retreat s. On Saturday 24 March the first retreat will be on the theme ‘Looking towards the Light’, which will focus on the dark times, hurt and shame we encounter in our lives and seeing those transformed by the light of God’s love.

The next retreat will take place during Easter on Saturday 24 April, on the theme ‘New Life’. This day retreat will focus on the journey from winter to spring and how the whole of creation reveals God to us.
