Into Extra Time is a new book from Messenger Publications which will be launched this evening in Dublin by Father Eamonn Conway. The book comprises the powerful reflections of Father Michael Paul Gallagher SJ, written during the final months of his life, following a diagnosis of cancer. Father Gallagher documented his journey – physical, psychological and spiritual – while undergoing several cycles of chemotherapy and ultimately passing into palliative care. He died in November 2015.

In this interview Brenda Drumm speaks to Father Donal Neary SJ on the life and legacy of Father Michael Paul Gallagher.

Born in 1938 in the village of Collooney, County Sligo, Michael Paul Gallagher SJ wrote several books on faith and contemporary culture, including Help My Unbelief, Faith Maps, Clashing Symbols and Dive Deeper. He was a lecturer in modern literature at University College Dublin before going to Rome where he was Rector of the Bellarmino College and Professor of Fundamental Theology at the Gregorian University.

Into Extra Time is published by Messenger Publications. For more information see www.messenger.ie.
