Knock to host the first Saint Thérèse’s International Day

18 Jun, 2024 | Church, News

Saint Thérèse – patroness of all missionaries and priests – first ever International Day falls next month on 14 July this year.  This sacred day will be celebrated at the International Eucharistic and Marian Shrine of Knock, and all are welcome.

According to Róisín O Toole and Sheila O Toole, the organisers of this event, the aim of this celebration is to reignite Saint Thérèse’s ‘Little way of Love’.  Róisín and Sheila said, “we believe Saint Thérèse’s simple doctrine and her ‘Little way of Love’ is the guide and hope that every heart in the world needs right now.”

Looking forward to this celebration, Father Richard Gibbons, parish priest of Knock and rector of the Shrine, said, “we look forward to the celebration of the first Saint Thérèse International Day at Knock Shrine on Sunday 14 July 2024.  This new pilgrimage day celebrates the Little Flower, Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, whose simple spirituality is called the ‘Little Way’.  It is fitting that this new International Day for Saint Thérèse should take place here at Ireland’s International Eucharistic and Marian Shrine, as ‘Tranquilla’ Carmelite Monastery is located adjacent to the Shrine and it is blessing to have such a wonderful connection with Saint Thérèse’s spirituality.  We hope that all pilgrims attending this day will find it to be spiritually uplifting.”
