‘Opening the Door of Mercy’ conference takes place in Dublin

‘Opening the Door of Mercy’ was a special one-day conference which took place on Saturday 5 March 2016 in Moran’s Red Cow Hotel, Dublin. It was organised by the Bishops’ Council for Pastoral Renewal and Adult Faith Development.

Speakers at the conference included:

  • His Excellency, Archbishop Charles J. Brown, Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland
  • Professor Michael Conway, Department of Faith and Culture, Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth
  • Susan Gately, Journalist and Author of God’s Surprise, the New Movements in the Church

The conference was opened by Bishop Donal McKeown, Bishop of Derry. The opening address was followed by input from Ms Julieann Moran of the Council for Pastoral Renewal and Adult Faith Development and Mr John Colgan, conference facilitator.

Archbishop Charles J.Brown, Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland chaired a roundtable discussion on ‘Pope Francis and the Year of Mercy’. Following that, Professor Michael Conway gave input on ‘An authentic Theology of Mercy’. Throughout the day conference participants heard from various different lay and ecclesial movements. Author and Journalist Susan Gately hosted a roundtable discussion on ‘The Movements/New Communities – Oases of Mercy’.
