‘Opening the Door of Mercy’ conference taking place in Dublin tomorrow

‘Opening the Door of Mercy’ is a special one day conference taking place tomorrow, Saturday 5 March 2016 in Moran’s Red Cow Hotel, Dublin. The conference has been organised by the Council for Pastoral Renewal and Adult Faith Development of the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference.

The Council hopes that hosting such a conference during the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy will nourish, encourage and enable those who are members of Ecclesial Movements, Associations of Lay Faithful, Apostolates, Christian Organisations and other parish groups to continue living out, in our daily lives, the mercy the Father constantly extends to all of us.

Speakers at the conference will include:

  • His Excellency, Archbishop Charles J. Brown, Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland
  • Professor Michael Conway, Department of Faith and Culture, Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth
  • Susan Gately, Journalist and Author of God’s Surprise, the New Movements in the Church

The conference will be opened by Bishop Donal McKeown, Bishop of Derry. The opening address will be followed by input from Ms Julieann Moran of the Council for Pastoral Renewal and Adult Faith Development and Mr John Colgan, conference facilitator.

At 11.00am Archbishop Charles J.Brown, Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland, will chair a roundtable discussion on ‘Pope Francis and the Year of Mercy’. Following that, Professor Michael Conway will give input on ‘An authentic Theology of Mercy’. Throughout the day conference participants will hear from various different lay and ecclesial movements. Author and Journalist Susan Gately will host a roundtable discussion on ‘The Movements/New Communities – Oases of Mercy’.

There will be opportunities for prayer and worship as part of the conference. The conference will conclude at 5.00pm.
