PTAA invitation to take the short term pledge for the month of November

by | 2 Nov, 2016 | News

The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association has launched its annual campaign to encourage the taking up of the Short-Term Pledge for the month of November for deceased family and friends who have gone before us marked with the sign of Faith. They are inviting people to abstain from alcohol for the month of November and to offer this prayerful act in honour of their deceased loved ones.

The mission of the PTAA is to address the problems in society caused by excess alcohol consumption and drug usage. They do this through:

  • Faith and prayer
  • Self denial
  • Example
  • Activities based on presenting alternatives to individuals, particularly the young
  • Advocacy

Their vision, based on the love in the Heart of Christ, as expressed in The Gospels, is to help to build a society where people live to their full potential and alcohol can be enjoyed in moderation avoiding the ills that arise in society from excess in its use.
