The work of the Irish branch of a papal charity which supports around 6,000 vulnerable communities around the world, Aid to the Church in Need, will be highlighted during a special RTÉ Mass to be broadcast this weekend.
The Mass will feature friends, benefactors and staff of ACN, which works to help support the spread of the Gospel message in almost 140 countries, particularly aid for those who are persecuted for their Christian faith.
It is an opportunity to highlight in prayer the work of our papal foundation, and shine a light on the people ACN supports.
Irishwoman Regina Lynch, who is global executive president of ACN International, will be one of those participating. The Mass will be celebrated by ACN Ireland ecclesiastical assistant Father Tim Bartlett.
Commenting on this upcoming broadcast, Michael Kelly, Director of Public Affairs for ACN Ireland says he hopes that many friends and supporters of ACN will be able to join in the Celebration of the Eucharist via television or radio.
“We would love to have everyone present, but the RTÉ studio allows only a handful of people, so we are really getting the word out that people who are unable to be there ‘in person’ can join us remotely and be part of our prayer and Mass,” Mr Kelly said.
In a message to supporters, Mr Kelly said: “Your prayerful participation will mean the world to us, and the people we support.
Mr kelly concluded, “Please also let your friends who may be housebound, in hospital, nursing homes, in prison or otherwise unable to go to Mass in person that they will be very welcome to join us via the tv or radio and they will very much be in our thoughts.”
The Mass will be broadcast on RTÉ One television, RTÉ Radio 1 Extra and on the RTÉ Player at 11.00am on Sunday February 9. The Mass will also be available for playback on the RTÉ Player.
