Saint Bernadette’s relics to visit every diocese this autumn

14 Aug, 2024 | Church, News, World

In September and October this year, the relics of Saint Bernadette (pictured above as Bernadette Soubirous) will journey on pilgrimage to Ireland for the very first time, visiting every diocese in the country.  This very special, once-in-lifetime event will provide an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the special gifts and charisms of Lourdes in their diocese.

During the thirteenth apparition, the Virgin Mary asked of Bernadette, “Go and tell the priests to build a chapel here and that people should come in procession.”  Bernadette thus became the Virgin Mary’s missionary, passing on her request to Father Peyramale, the parish priest of Lourdes.

Today, the Sanctuary Our Lady of Lourdes wants to respond to this request in a new way.  The visitation of the holy relics is an opportunity to have Lourdes come to your diocese so that we can all experience the pilgrimage in Lourdes at home in Ireland.

The tour runs from 4 September to 5 November 2024.  For more information please click here.
