Theme and dates announced for the World Meeting of Families 2021

“Family love: vocation and path to holiness” is the theme chosen by Pope Francis for the next World Meeting of Families, which will take place in Rome from 23 – 27 June 2021.

The meeting will be organized by the Diocese of Rome and the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, and will take place on the fifth anniversary of Amoris Laetitia and three years after Gaudete et Exsultate.

Rome 2021 will focus on family love as a vocation and a way to holiness. Family relationships in daily life can have a reediming value: the proposal is to reread Amoris Laetitia in the light of the call to holiness of Gaudete et Exsultate.

Marriage and family provide an opportunity to live the commandment of love in a concrete way, to manifest the value of relationships by sharing joys and struggles of daily life, and help each of us encounter God. As the Pope said, Christian family life is a vocation and a way of holiness, an expression of the “most attractive face of the Church”.

In a statement, the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life said, “We have already started to work to prepare the meeting and welcome you. Starting today, it is also time for you and your family to prepare to come to Rome and participate in the World Meeting of Families in June 2021. We are waiting for you!”
