Trócaire, Ireland’s leading Catholic international development agency, is now recruiting a part-time Church Youth Officer to join its dynamic ‘Outreach Team’ in a newly launched role aimed at empowering young people across Ireland to take action on global justice and climate change, inspired by Catholic Social Teaching.
The successful candidate will work four days per week over a three-year contract. The role is based in either Maynooth or Belfast, with extensive outreach across the Republic of Ireland. The officer will collaborate closely with Trócaire’s Church Outreach Manager and partner organisations, including the Laudato Si’ Working Group of the Irish Bishops’ Conference as well as leading school and parish workshops on climate action as an expression of faith and justice. This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about engaging youth through faith-based action, particularly around Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’s encyclical on environmental justice.
Applications are open until Monday, 16 June, 2025. Candidates interested in faith-driven youth leadership, global solidarity, and the call to care for creation are encouraged to apply via Trócaire’s official website.
The Church Youth Officer position offers a competitive salary, pension, life assurance, and access to flexible and hybrid working arrangements. Trócaire emphasises diversity, equity, and inclusion in its recruitment, encouraging applicants from all backgrounds. Accommodations for people with disabilities are available throughout the application process.
Founded in 1973, Trócaire works in up to 20 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Its mission is to tackle the root causes of poverty, injustice, and environmental degradation through advocacy, partnerships, and public engagement.
