Veritas announces tour to promote the devotion to Divine Mercy

5 Oct, 2023 | Church, News, World

Veritas, the publishing agency of the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference, has invited Father Chris Alar MIC, renowned author and promoter of the Divine Mercy message, to visit various locations in Ireland, from today, to share his knowledge and devotion of Divine Mercy in a series of talks and celebrations.  All of the events are free and open to everyone.  They will take place in Clonfert, Knock Shrine, Derry, Letterkenny, Dublin, Waterford and London. Accompanying Father Alar will be special guest James Kilbane, singer-songwriter.

Father Alar said, ‘I am really excited to be returning to Ireland!  It is encouraging to see how strong the devotion to the message of Divine Mercy is in this country, and how much people want to learn more about their Catholic faith.  I am  looking forward to seeing my Irish friends again.  I found it to be an inspiring experience when I visited the Divine Mercy Conference in Dublin in February this year. I sincerely appreciated the feedback i received from those in attendance.  I am also grateful that my books have made it onto Ireland’s non-fiction bestseller list’.

Father Alar is the author of Understanding Divine Mercy and After Suicide: There’s Hope For Them and For You.  He is Provincial Superior of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy Province of the Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception in the United States and Argentina. He wrote and produced the popular Divine Mercy 101 and Explaining the Faith DVD series and is host of the weekly EWTN show Living Divine Mercy.  He serves as ‘Father Joseph, MIC’, the Director of the Association of Marian Helpers, and is the head of Marian Press, located on the grounds of the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.  His religious community has been entrusted to spread the message of Divine Mercy around the world.

The Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception have been official promoters of the Divine Mercy message and devotion since 1941, only three years after the death of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, the Lord’s ‘Secretary’ of Divine Mercy. The Marian Fathers are the publishers of Saint Faustina’s diary, Divine Mercy in My Soul, in many languages.   At the Marian Fathers’ North American headquarters in Stockbridge, Massachusetts – home of the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy – their printing presses produce some 50 million pieces of literature and images a year, all sent out to a world yearning for meaning, mercy and healing.  Thanks in large part to their efforts, the Divine Mercy message and devotion has been called “the largest grassroots movement in the history of the Catholic Church.
