Veritas, Ireland’s leading religious books and gifts retailer, has this week launched a new Christmas campaign on the theme ‘Sharing the Meaning of Christmas’.
Veritas is inviting people to share pictures and messages, using the social media hashtag #sharingthemeaning explaining what Christmas means to them. Prizes will be awarded for the most engaging stories which will be compiled in book form next year, with the royalty being donated to the Peter McVerry Trust.
Commenting on the initiative, Aidan Chester, Director of Veritas, said, “Christmas is such an important time of year for all of us, whether we focus on the religious event itself or on the traditions that so many of us have grown up with. Over the years I have had so much feedback from people living overseas who have seen photographs of the Christmas window display in our flagship Abbey Street store and been prompted to reflect on Christmases of years gone by. I hope that this initiative will prompt those people, as well as anyone with a particular fondness for the season of Christmas, to put their thinking caps on and share their memories and ideas with us.
“At a time of great uncertainty, both nationally and globally, the theme of Sharing the Meaning of Christmas is particularly apt. While Christmas is an opportunity to celebrate and to unwind in the company of family and friends, it should also be a period of reflection. Veritas is inviting all its customers to find time in the busy weeks ahead to ponder the Nativity of the Lord, when the Virgin Mary gave birth to a son, Emmanuel.”
Mr Chester continued, “Veritas is also proud to stock quality books and gifts that will create the kind of memories that are guaranteed to be cherished. A nativity set is the centrepiece of many homes at Christmas and we have a particularly wide-ranging selection to suit every budget and, as with our Christmas ornaments, they invariably become firm family favourites as the years go by.
“And if you’re looking for something particularly meaningful for a friend or family member, then why not choose one of our very own Veritas titles on spirituality and well-being? All our books are printed in Ireland so, as well as choosing a particularly thoughtful gift, you’ll be supporting Irish industry. Whether you have a particular gift in mind, or whether you’d simply like to soak up the unique festive flavour that Veritas offers at this time of year, we’d love to see you in one of our stores.”
