‘We have a strong tradition that God is at our side in time of trouble’ – Archbishop Eamon Martin

16 Mar, 2020 | News

Archbishop Eamon Martin, Archbishop of Armagh, Primate of All Ireland and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Dromore, has published a video message ahead of the feast of Saint Patrick, Patron Saint of Ireland.

In his video message, Archbishop Eamon calls for the faithful of Ireland to pray to Saint Patrick, as Ireland and the many other parts of the world come to terms with the Coronavirus.

The Archbishop says, “During these days I invite you to pray with me, the beautiful prayer of Saint Patrick, Saint Patrick’s Breastplate, where he invited God to surround him with love and protection.

“When we turn to God for protection like Saint Patrick did, we are asking for the gift of serenity and peace of mind. I invite you to pray for our health workers and medical scientists who are trying to find the best possible treatment and vaccine for this virus. Pray also for our government authorities and health authorities that they can make wise judgements about how to limit the virus, especially on the most vulnerable.”

Concluding his video message, Archbishop Eamon says, “In Ireland, we have a strong tradition that God is at our side in time of trouble and it is important to remember that and to remind ourselves that we are never completely isolated.

Christ is beside us,
Christ is before us,
beneath us and above us,
on our right and on our left.

Saint Patrick apostle of Ireland pray for us.”
