Announcing the recruitment of Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of Elphin, Bishop Kevin Doran said, “I believe that young people engage personally with questions about the meaning of life, and that they are open to faith. Many of them say that they might be more likely to engage with Church, if they thought some of their friends might be there. Anyone who hopes to work effectively in youth ministry will need to invite them into a space where their friendships with one another can be enriched by Gospel values, and where they are supported in becoming what Pope Francis calls ‘missionary disciples'”.
The Diocese of Elphin is seeking to employ a Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. The role will involve fostering existing initiatives in youth and young adult ministry, as well as working towards building relationships which will lead to fresh initiatives in centres of population throughout the diocese.
The successful candidate will focus on creating opportunities for young people to gather in a context of faith, with the intention of supporting them in forming friendships inspired by Gospel values, helping them to develop greater and mature relationships with Jesus Christ and, encouraging them to be missionary disciples in the places where they live and work.
The Diocese of Elphin covers area in the counties of Roscommon, Sligo and Galway.
